Saginaw Day Camp (SDC) offers a Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program for children ages 14 and 15 that emphasizes self-confidence and responsibility.
Through the discipline of team building, the CIT program will focus on many life skills such as leadership, organization and problem-solving. Every afternoon, CITs get to experience what it is like to be a counselor, as they work with, mentor, and develop relationships with the younger campers. Upon completion of the program, teens will be ready and motivated to utilize these skills outside of camp to develop better relationships and succeed in all future endeavors. Furthermore, many CITs will have the opportunity to become paid staff members at SDC once they turn 16!
In addition to all the valuable skills they will learn, CITs will get to experience the great activities that SDC has to offer, including ATVs, a 60 foot rock climbing wall/zip-line tower, laser tag, go-karts, swimming and much, much more.
The SDC Director Tracy Schwartzberg oversees this program. Tracy not only has a Master's Degree in Education, but a wealth of experience in leadership training. CITs receive a discounted rate of $50 off tuition per week, with a minimum of four weeks enrolled in the program. A hot lunch is provided daily, and transportation and extended hours are available.
