Little Pioneer/Mini Day
(Pre-K and Kindergarten)
The Little Pioneers program at SDC is specially designed for children four and five years old and offers a camp experience where our youngest campers are nurtured and supervised in a safe environment by experienced counselors and Head Counselors.
Through sports, arts, play, swim, and adventure, our Little Pioneers learn new skills using equipment and facilities designed just for them. This program emphasizes social skills, independence, and positive self-image.
With an increased staff to camper ratio of 3:1, we are committed to providing your child with the support needed to achieve social and life skills within a fun and safe environment.
The Little Pioneers program at SDC is specially designed for children aged 4-5 years old. The program offers a camper experience where our youngest campers are nurtured and supervised in a safe environment by experienced counselors and Head Counselors. Go karts, arts & crafts, canoeing, adventure course, climbing wall, and two daily swims are a few highlights. We also provide activities exclusive to the Little Pioneers such as a moon-bounce, gardening, and water games.
For those interested in a partial day program, we also offer a Little Pioneers “Mini-Day” option. Instead of a full day, campers arrive at 9:00am and are picked up at 1:45pm. Mini-day campers enjoy swim lessons, a free swim, a hot lunch, and an activity each day.

Traditional SDC
(1st grade through 10th grade)
Traditional Saginaw Day Campers range in age from 6 to 15, and participate in a variety of structured, supervised, and exciting activities daily. Saginaw Day Camp offers campers lasting friendships, increased confidence, and opportunities for unique experiences.
At SDC, the program grows with the campers. As they age, our campers gain access to new activities and greater challenges. Through their years in camp, SDC campers experience exponential growth in a variety of activities made possible by highly trained staff at each activity.

Counselor-In-Training/Teen Leadership
(9th grade and 10th grade)
SDC offers a Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program for adolescents going into 9th and 10th grade that emphasizes self-confidence and responsibility. This program requires a minimum of four weeks enrolled at SDC.
This program is designed to give our older campers the tools to become the next generation of staff. As our former campers transition to staff, they are eager to contribute to the positive experiences of younger campers.
Through the discipline of team-building, the CIT program will focus on many life skills such as leadership, organization and problem-solving. CITs learn how to work with children and staff in a closely supervised environment. Each day, they divide their time between recreational activities, leadership training/team building, and a field assignment arranged by the CIT Coordinator.
Every afternoon, CITs get to experience what it is like to be a counselor, as they work with, mentor, and develop relationships with the younger campers. Upon completion of the program, teens will be ready and motivated to utilize these skills outside of camp to develop better relationships and succeed in all future endeavors. Furthermore, many CITs will have the opportunity to become paid staff members at SDC once they turn 16.
