During the course of your child’s time at SDC, the relationships he or she builds with their counselors and specialists can be very impactful and help to drive your child’s achievements at SDC. Our staff are not only positive role models but they are with our campers every step of the way; helping your child to succeed and even more importantly, coaching them through frustrations and setbacks.
The leadership at Saginaw Day Camp is unparalleled in terms of qualifications, experience, and professionalism. All employees are carefully screened, interviewed and selected on the basis of skill, enthusiasm and a sincere desire to work with children.
Our Head Counselors are all educators during the ‘off-season’, and have considerable experience when working with children and managing staff, campers, and activities. Head Counselors will assist your children with their daily needs and provide guidance and resources to their counselors.
Our Counselors are hired specifically for their sincere desire to work with children in a fun environment. We value patience, leadership, dependability, creativity, and sense of fun when selecting caregivers. Many of our day camp counselors are former SDC campers themselves!
Our specialists are selected for their knowledge and experience in teaching specific activities, whether it be ropes course, instructional or free swim, tennis, or cooking. All specialists are certified (when applicable) in their activity, as well as trained in CPR/first aid.
