Pioneer Program

The Pioneers Program at Saginaw Day Camp (SDC) is for our four and five year old campers, and emphasizes social skills, independence, and positive self image. Further, acting responsibly, organization, and conscientiousness are highlighted on a daily basis.

Pioneers go for a canoe ride

With an increased staff to camper ratio of 3:1, we are committed to providing your child with the support needed to achieve social and life skills within a fun and safe environment.

The Pioneers participate in many of the activities that older SDC campers enjoy, but adjustments are made to meet their specific size and skill level. Some of these activities include go-karts (two-seaters are available to ride with counselors), arts & crafts, canoeing, adventure course, climbing wall, and both instructional and recreational swimming daily. Additionally, there are many activities exclusive to the Pioneers such as a moon-bounce, gardening, and aqua-tivities (water games). For our athletics program, teamwork and skill building are emphasized in all sports.

Following a daily lunch, we provide an extended rest period, giving the Pioneers an opportunity to rejuvenate for their afternoon activities in their own air conditioned building.

For those interested in having young children stay only part of the camp day, we also offer a Pioneers "Mini-Day" Program. Instead of a full day, campers arrive at 9:00am and are picked up at 1:45pm.
